Why invest and do business in Saskatchewan

  • Canada’s second largest oil producer

Saskatchewan is one of the only jurisdictions in the world that produces crude oil, natural gas, coal, uranium, biofuels, geothermal, wind and hydro power.

  • Using CO2 to extract oil with less emissions

The province has well-developed strategies to reduce methane emissions and promote carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS).

  • Helium resources that are world class

Strong geo-science and a solid regulatory framework make the province one of the best places to extract and process helium. Learn more about Saskatchewan's Helium Action Plan

  • Lithium, hydrogen, rare earth elements

Strong geo-science innovations are attracting global attention. Saskatchewan is one of the best locations to pilot, commercialize and scale new energy technologies.

  • Transferable energy production tax credits

To encourage innovation and value-added processing, incentives include the Saskatchewan Petroleum Innovation Incentive and the Oil and Gas Processing Investment Incentive.

  • Transparent regulatory and royalty environment

The Saskatchewan government works with you to get new energy projects up and running quickly.

Saskatchewan is a great place to pilot, commercialize and scale new energy-related technologies.

Saskatchewan has the perfect geology and advanced regulatory framework for helium generation and production. North American Helium saw the competitive advantages of operating in the province and opened Canada’s largest helium purification plant in southwest Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan is one of the best places in the world to pilot, commercialize and scale new energy technologies. DEEP Earth Energy is tapping into the earth's geothermal energy and converting it into a source of sustainable energy. The company was the first company in Canada to have a power purchase agreement to supply geothermal power.
